Trapdoor spiders have occurred on the Australian continent for over 300 million years and have evolved into hundreds of different species. Come and meet some of Mark's favourites.

Dr Mark Harvey

Head of the Museum’s Terrestrial Zoology Department, Mark is an expert in arachnids and myriapods, studying creatures like spiders, scorpions and centipedes.

He has named more than 725 new species, including the Draculoides bramstokeri (an arachnid) and Tyrannochthonius rex (a pseudoscorpion).

Meet the Museum is a casual, weekly presentation where you can meet some of the Museum's scientists, historians, researchers and curators as they share their expertise and passions.

Discover fascinating stories and explore what goes on behind-the-scenes.

If you register for a tour, program or an event, general entry is included in your booking.
