Emu egg painting with Wajarri artist

This National Science Week, get creative and connect with Country in this free, hands-on art workshop led by a Wajarri artist.

Kids will learn about the significance of the emu in Aboriginal culture before decorating their very own papier mâché emu egg canister using traditional painting techniques and earthy ochre tones.

Young artists will be guided through every step so everyone goes home with a beautiful, one-of-a-kind artwork to treasure.

No painting experience is required; this free workshop is a wonderful opportunity to learn, create, and celebrate living culture in a fun and welcoming space.

Before or after the workshop, visit the Cosmic Echoes: A Shared Sky Indigenous Art Exhibition at the Museum of Geraldton to see the painted emu eggs by featured Wajarri Yamaji artists from the Mid West of Western Australia, and ostrich eggs by Khoi-San artists from South Africa.

All children must be supervised by a parent or legal guardian for the duration of the workshop.
