Uses

Raspberry Jam Wattle has many traditional uses. Its seeds can be roasted and ground into a nutritious flour for making damper and other foods, while powdered seeds may also be used as a spice. Roasted seeds can be brewed to make a tea-like drink, and dried plant material can be used as a herb or seasoning.

The gum produced by the tree can be eaten directly like a natural lolly or mixed with water to create a sweet substance similar to honey. Traditionally, the gum has also been used in drinks to help relieve coughs, colds and chest complaints, and it has been applied to cuts and abrasions in either solid or powdered form as an antiseptic treatment.

The bark has been used as a traditional pain reliever, while smoke from the plant was sometimes used in the treatment of diarrhoea. The strong and durable timber of the Raspberry Jam Wattle was valued for making tools and weapons, including boomerangs, throwing clubs, digging sticks and spear-throwers.

Acts as an essential "nurse plant" or host to hemiparasitic species like Sandalwood and Quandong.
