Explore Albany’s rich heritage through a guided photo walk and historic tour.

In this workshop designed for adults, learn the basics of photo composition before diving into amazing images from Albany’s past. Then it’s time to head out on a guided walk to historic sites photographing your own “Now” moments to compare with the “Then.”

Journey through iconic sites and discover how the town has transformed over time. Along the way, hear fascinating local stories while capturing the character and charm of familiar places.

This immersive experience blends storytelling, photography, and local history, offering a fresh perspective on familiar places.

You can also enter the photos you capture during this workshop into the Albany Then and Now Photography Competition. The competition invites photographers of all ages to showcase Albany’s spirit, history, and transforming landscapes across four categories.

Note:

  • Participants must be able to comfortably walk 2 - 3km, some of which is uphill. 
  • Participants are to bring along their own camera or phone.
  • We recommend participants wear comfortable shoes, bring a water bottle and appropriate sun/rain protection.
