16 Days in WA – Standing together against family and domestic violence
The 16 Days in WA campaign runs from 25 November to 10 December, raising awareness and taking action to end violence against women. This year, WA Museum sites are joining the movement through displays, programs, and community activities that advocate for change.
Museum of Geraldton

Museum of the Goldfields
In a show of community spirit and support for ending violence against women, the team at the Museum of the Goldfields are taking part in the Kalgoorlie Colour Run and Candlelight Vigil. These events bring people together to reflect, remember, and take a stand against violence.

Museum of the Great Southern
In recognition of the value of connection and community, the Museum of the Great Southern is running two women’s crochet workshops, lighting the Brig Amity in orange, and decorating the Co-op window with orange lanterns to encourage conversations, demonstrate support and help keep the 16 Days in WA campaign front of mind for the community.

Museums and Landmarks Illuminate in Orange
Throughout the 16-days, prominent landmarks across Western Australia will be lit up in the global campaign colour orange, symbolising a united stand against gender-based violence. In support of the state-wide campaign, the WA Shipwrecks Museum and the Brig Amity at the Museum of the Great Southern will be lit up in orange each evening.
