Deep-sea explorer and filmmaker James Cameron visits Fremantle in exclusive WA Museum event

We were thrilled to bring James Cameron to Western Australia for a public event on Sunday 24 March 2024, to celebrate the launch of JAMES CAMERON – CHALLENGING THE DEEP at the WA Maritime Museum.

The In Conversation event, held at the Fremantle Passenger Terminal, saw senior reporter and film critic Ben O’Shea discuss with James Cameron his passion and pursuits in deep ocean scientific and technical innovations, creative achievements, and his relationship between filmmaking and deep ocean exploration.

It was an honour and privilege to have James Cameron come to Western Australia and be part of the exhibition and public event. Without question, this visit has done great things to raise the profile of the WA Museum and the exhibition, locally, interstate and internationally.

The opportunities generated by James Cameron’s visit enabled us to highlight the excellent work undertaken by our aquatic zoology and maritime archaeology teams and launch the Foundation for WA Museum’s Marine Sustainability Fund.

If you missed it or want to re-live the conversation, you can tune in to our free livestream recording.
