Enjoy a range of activities this NAIDOC Week to celebrate and recognise the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Join us in welcoming Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company as they bring the performance of Kaarla Kaatijin, which means to ‘understand fire’ in Noongar language.

Come on a journey into the lives of Djitty Djitty (Willy Wagtail), Kulbardi (Magpie), Dwert (Dingo), and many more familiar friends as they explore the importance of Kaarla (fire) in the next chapter of Yirra Yaakin’s immersive Kaatijin series.

Join in a collective canvas painting project with Whadjuk Nyoongar artist Julianne Wade. Get creative by crafting your beaded NAIDOC colours friendship band, make and spin your Aboriginal flag thaumatrope, and challenge yourself with our Noongar language marine animals matching game.

Schedule

  • Kaarla Kaatijin performance | 11am - 12pm
  • Painting workshop with Julianne Wade | 10am - 11am, 12pm - 2pm
Numbers limited: registrations taken on the day in person
  • Games and craft activities | 10am - 2pm
