We're celebrating National Science Week this year by highlighting the innovative tools and technology WA Museum scientists use in their daily work.

The Maritime Museum shows the rich history of Western Australian’s use of and interactions with life in the ocean, from fishing to whale watching. During Science Week we are looking down the microscope at the huge population of organisms that can’t be shown in a Museum display case.

We might not think about these tiny living things when we are out on a boat or surfing, but they are critically important to all other life on Earth, not just the ones living underwater.

Visitors will be able to see some of these creatures using our digital microscopes, learn about how they survive, and how we need to understand them to preserve our precious marine environments.

Join us during Science Week for a fun investigation with a fascinating look at an unfamiliar world!
