WA Down Under Education Programs - Educator Preview
Dates
Monday 5 May 2025 | 4pm - 5pm
Join us for a look at the exciting new dimensions of the WA Down Under gallery, and how your students can engage their STEM learning with local waters and the inhabitants that flourish there.
The WA Down Under: Features and habitats (Primary) education program is designed to address the curriculum opportunities of Year 5 and Year 6 students, and considers topics such as sustainability, change and the impact of human activity on the local marine and estuarine environments.
The WA Down Under: Systems and change (Secondary) education program is premised on giving Year 9 students an opportunity to undertake experiment processes such as those done by scientists in the field. Based on the curriculum focus, the approach covers the interconnection between marine and estuarine environments and the importance of micro-organisms in creating water conditions that promote ecosystem health and balance.
We will showcase how a combination of hands-on STEM learning and new gallery content will inspire your students. This session will cover all levels of the WA Down Under science engagement for teachers.
