General

The Promoter of the International Museum Day Social Media Giveaway (“Competition”) is the Western Australian Museum ("Promoter") and is in no way affiliated with Meta (Instagram and Facebook).

How to enter

To enter the Competition, you must tag a friend in a comment on the Western Australian Museum's Instagram post and both be following the Western Australian Museum (@wamuseum) on Instagram. There is no limit on how many times you can enter.

Entry submissions must be received between 6pm, Tuesday 14 May 2024 and 10am, Friday 17 May 2024 to be eligible.

Who can enter

Entrants must be following the Western Australian Museum (@wamuseum) on Instagram.

Employees or agents of the WA Museum or their immediate family members are not eligible to enter the Competition.

Prizes on offer

  • The Western Australian Museum is giving away five prize packs, each valued at $160.
  • The prize pack includes:
    • 2 x Western Australian Museum Friend Memberships
    • 2 tickets to 'To the Moon' at the Western Australian Museum Boola Bardip
    • 2 x tickets to 'JAMES CAMERON – CHALLENGING THE DEEP' at the Western Australian Museum Maritime Museum

The prize is subject to the following rules:

  • The winners must be available to redeem the 'To the Moon' tickets before Monday 7 October 2024.
  • The winners must be available to redeem the 'JAMES CAMERON – CHALLENGING THE DEEP' exhibition tickets before Sunday 28 July 2024.
  • The prize is non-transferable, non-exchangeable and not redeemable for cash.

Open, close and draw dates

The competition opens on Tuesday 14 May at 6pm AWST and closes on Friday 17 May 2024 at 10am AWST. The winners will be drawn on Friday 17 May 2024 at 10am AWST and notified before 11am AWST.

The prize must be claimed by the winner within 24 hours of notification of winning. The winner will be required to claim their prize by responding to the Instagram message. Further details of where and how to collect the prize will be provided by the Promotor at the time it notifies the winner.

If the prize is not claimed within the 24 hour period, the Promoter will conduct further draws at the same time of day as the original draw to distribute the unclaimed prize. The winner of any unclaimed prize draw will be notified by Instagram message and will need to claim the prize within one business day of notification of winning. If not claimed, the Promoter may conduct further draws following the expiry of that one business day period in accordance with this clause.

The prize winners will be selected at random and determined by the Promotor at its absolute discretion.

Publicity of Competition

  • It is a condition of entry in the Competition that the WA Museum has the right to publish the name, image, voice, photograph or video of entrants (“Materials”) for any matter incidental to the Competition or the promotion or marketing of the WA Museum
  • The WA Museum may use your Materials in any medium, be it on its website, other electronic means, or in any other reasonable manner that aligns with the purpose of the Competition and the promotion of the WA Museum.

Privacy and miscellaneous

  • The Promoter will collect, use and manage personal information provided in each entry in accordance with its privacy policy and membership terms and conditions.
  • All entries become the property of the Promotor once submitted.
  • By submitting an entry, the entrant acknowledges and agrees that it is giving the Promoter permission to use their entry for marketing, publicity or promotional purposes.
  • Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, the Promotor (including its officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity) whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the Competition, including, but not limited to, liabilities arising from or in connection with:
    • any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter’s control)
    • any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference;
    • any entry or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter;
    • any variation in prize value to that stated in these Terms and Conditions;
    • any tax liability incurred by a winner or entrant;
    • redemption of the prize; and
    • participation in the Competition

Cancellation

The WA Museum reserves the right to suspend, cancel or otherwise close the competition earlier than is stated in these terms and conditions for safety, security, technical failures, or any other causes which affect the proper administration, fairness or security of the Competition.
