For many Aboriginal people, "deadly" means excellent or very good, and that perfectly describes this exciting, hands-on and highly interactive session!
This school holidays, bring the kids along to experience and explore the rich traditions of Nyoongar culture, art and storytelling, with deadly Nyoongar maaman and local legend, Derek Nannup.
During this workshop, participants will:
- Create unique sand art using traditional Nyoongar symbols and techniques
- Craft a personal message stick, learning its cultural significance as a tool for communication and storytelling
- Connect with Country through stories, symbols, and shared creativity
This is an immersive workshop that encourages respect, understanding, and appreciation of Nyoongar culture while fostering creativity and personal expression.
Drop and Leave Holiday Programs
Drop and leave programs enable children and young people to experience the Museum independently, discover and learn something new in an area of interest and access materials and resources not normally available at home. All programs are managed and monitored by our experienced Learning and Engagement staff.
