They say a picture paints a thousand words, but did you know that you can paint a portrait using only four colours?

Join artist and Lester Prize finalist Melissa Clements as she introduces you, step by step, to the art of capturing the likeness of the human face known as portraiture.

Get that space on the wall ready to display your work of art when you get home!

All art materials are provided for you.

During this workshop, participants will:

  • Learn to breakdown the subject of portraiture
  • Learn to mix colour from a limited palette of four colours
  • Use this colour palette to create a life-like portrait to take home.

This workshop is presented in partnership with The Lester Prize

Drop and leave programs

Drop and leave programs enable juniors to experience the Museum independently, discover and learn something new in an area of interest and access materials and resources that would not normally be available at home. All programs are managed and monitored by our experienced Learning and Engagement staff.
