join Friends of Mexico in WA (FOMEX) to celebrate Mexican Day of the Dead.

Day of the Dead combines the ancient Aztec custom of celebrating ancestors with All Souls' Day, a holiday that Spanish conquistadors brought to Mexico in the early 1500s. The holiday, which is celebrated mostly in Mexico on November 1 and 2, is like a family reunion—except dead ancestors are the guests of honour.

The celebration will include an Altar for the Dead, crafts and games for the kids, a talk about this popular Mexican tradition, and performances on the hour by Ixtzul, FOMEX’s Mexican folkloric dance troupe.

  • Hourly performances by Ixtzul from 11:30am
  • Day of the Dead talk at 11am & 1pm
