Your ticket includes entry into the Ancient Greeks: Athletes, Warriors and Heroes exhibition.
Competition in Ancient Greece wasn't just limited to the war and athletics — in fact, many vicious competitions were subtly held with sideways looks, jewelry, and fine fabrics.
Join WAAPA Cultural Studies lecturer, Joanna Gentilli, and Arts lecturer and designer, Neil Sheriff, for an illuminating seminar surrounding the Ancient Greek concepts of female beauty, and how these ideals drove competition and reinforced social hierarchies (it's all in the wreath).
Focusing on artefacts featured in the Ancient Greeks: Athletes, Warriors and Heroes exhibition, Joanna and Neil will contrast Ancient Greek ideas of inaccessible beauty and worship, with contemporary ideas of beauty portrayed in popular culture — raising the question: have things changed that much after all?
Presenter: Neil Sheriff and Joanna Gentilli
Location: Woodside Learning Studios
