An influential and infamous West Australian family
Charles Broadhurst brought out his pioneering family to Western Australia in the 1860s.
Later, in 1871, he purchased the two-masted iron-hulled SS Xantho, and used it to travel between the North-West of WA and the Swan River Colony amongst other things. Michael 'Mack' McCarthy explains how the discovery of a wreck like the SS Xantho began the process of discovering the remarkable story of the Broadhurst family.
