Come and celebrate National Science Week at the WA Maritime Museum Woodside Open Day

Dive into ocean science with a range of free, fun activities for all ages. Watch, listen and interact as you learn about the wonderful world below the waves. 

Meet our marine scientists who have explored the great depths of the Western Australian coast, take part in the Shark Show interactive performance, look deep into Microscopic Marvels digital microscope, watch Ningaloo: Australia's Other Great Reef Under the Dome and so much more!

Fathoming the Abrolhos: An underwater exploration exhibition

Underwater Art activities

• ReMida Undersea Animals recycled art workshop | Using unique upcycled industrial waste materials to make your own underwater animal.

• Reef Columns graffiti drawing workshop with Paula Hart | Take your graffiti style to a new level using paint markers to bring colour to underwater your interpretation of reef animals and environments.

Under the Dome - Ningaloo: Australia's Other Great Reef screenings

10.30am, 11.30am and 1.00pm

Shark Show: World of Wonders interactive performance | Cool science facts and game show fun! As a lucky contestant you might spin the wheel, compete in a comedically challenging game or impress the audience with your knowledge of shark facts. Biggest, cutest, weirdest and more ... we know you'll get excited by shark fun too!

11.00am - 2.00pm

Marine scientists in-gallery | Check out the weird, wild and wonderful world of creatures living off the Western Australian coast and meet the team of scientists who have been exploring and researching marine waters in some of the exotic parts of our great state, from the shallower parts of our tropical and temperate reef environments, to the remote island habitats and deep canyons further off the coast.

2pm and 3:30pm (45 min sets)

Live music with The Libby Hammer Duo | As the afternoon sets in across the port, relax and settle into and enjoy the marvellous live music as you continue to explore marine science in all its forms.

3.00pm - 4.00pm

Science Week: A Living Refuge – Abrolhos marine biodiversity seminar
