From queer tours to some of the most extraordinary PowerPoints ever presented, Western Australian Museum Boola Bardip is set to host a roster of PrideFEST 2023 activities this November.
The November iteration of the QUoir will get the ball rolling on Wednesday 8 November, a community choir for everyone and anyone who feels the need to shake off the stress of every day in communal song. Led by Queency and Tara John of the WA Bad Ass Gospel Choir.
On Thursday 9 November join an open conversation about queer narratives that explore the many facets of identity at In Conversation: An Unexpected Party.
Co-published by Fremantle Press, Get YA Words Out and edited by Seth Malacari (he/they), An Unexpected Party brings together the stories of emerging authors from the LGBTQIA+ community.
The In Conversation panel will feature young LGBTQIA+ writers and will be facilitated by CEO of Pride WA Dr Lauren Butterly, the group will delve deep into the fantastical realms and real-world struggles of the exciting new anthology.
WA Museum Creative Producer, Engagement Ciaran McDonald said November is focused on all things Pride with bespoke programs as well as fantastic live talks and performances.
“From returning shows such as Queer PowerPoint to brand new panel discussions on the deeper conversations behind the queer experience, we can’t wait to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community,” he said.
After successful shows at Rising festival, Sydney World Pride and the Sydney Opera House, Queer PowerPoint is sliding its way back onto the stage for WA Museum’s 2023 Pride Month celebrations.
The Friday 10 November performance will see WA-based artists, lead by show creators Xanthe Dobbie and Harriet Gilles, dive headfirst into their deepest, most niche passions through the medium of PowerPoint presentation.
Take part in an opportunity to celebrate diversity and learn more about the queer experience in Western Australia with Boola Bardip’s Queering the Museum: An LGBTQIA+ Tour on Wednesday 25 November.
The tour will take you on a journey through the representations of gender and sexual identities within the Museum's exhibitions and collections.
On Sunday 12 November WA Museum in a Container will be making an appearance at Pride WA’s Fair Day and will include a photography station, and an opportunity to share your thoughts on how the LGBTQIA+ community is represented at WA Museum.
Every Friday and Sunday throughout November Boola Bardip’s Story Time will explore the whole rainbow of family life in all its forms.
Rainbow Storytime is the ideal opportunity to introduce your child to the wonder of the written and spoken word amongst the colourful Museum galleries whilst celebrating diversity.
At the WA Museum we're dedicated to creating a safe space that is accessible to all and we actively celebrate diversity, encourage people to share their stories and culture, and express their identity.
