Members see it first

To celebrate the Museum’s new membership program, we are offering exclusive access to see Ancient Greeks: Athletes, Warriors and Heroes BEFORE it officially opens on Sunday 20 June.

This Saturday 19 June, Museum Members will be the first to see this once-in-a-lifetime exhibition from the British Museum.

This captivating exhibition explores the triumphs, conquests and epic tales found throughout Ancient Greek history, with rare objects – including artefacts from the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus. This burial site was of such scale and beauty that it was listed as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

The exhibition will be open from 9.30am to 5pm, this Saturday, for Museum Members only.

Free entertainment

PLUS to continue the festivities, enjoy the following free activities from 10am to 1pm in the Museum’s outdoor City Room:

  • Living statues and wreath-making with our friends from the Perth Cultural Centre.
  • Dramatic performances of classic ‘epic tales’.
  • Live music from Dolce Trio.
  • Chariot rides for tiny rulers, courtesy of comedian Sam Longley – free craft activities while you wait!

Epoch will also be stocking their coffee cart with delicious Greek-inspired treats to ‘champion’ even the biggest hungers.

Curator lecture with Q&A

From 3pm to 5pm, drop-in to the Learning Studios for a special presentation screening with Dr Peter Higgs, exhibition curator and Acting Keeper Greece and Rome at the British Museum.

This presentation will be facilitated by Ancient History expert, Danielle McCabe. A live Q&A with Dr Higgs will follow – questions encouraged!
